Why I Don’t Like Email Automation (And Other Automation Tools)

In today’s fast-paced world, automation is everywhere from chatbots handling customer inquiries to AI-driven recruitment tools. While automation has its place, I’ve always believed that some things should remain personal, especially in business interactions.

The Problem with Email Automation & Over-Automation

  • It lacks authenticity - Nothing replaces a genuine, personalized conversation. Automated emails too often feel robotic, impersonal, and generic—which is the fastest way to lose engagement.

  • It misses the human touch - Business is built on relationships, trust, and meaningful interactions. When everything is pre-programmed, the empathy and emotional intelligence behind communication disappear.

  • One size fits all doesn't work - Automation assumes that every recipient is the same, but in reality, clients, candidates, and partners all have unique needs that require tailored engagement.

  • It can do more harm than good - Over automation can result in miscommunication, lost opportunities, and frustrated recipients who feel like just another number on a list.

Where Automation Fails, Personalization Wins

Instead of relying entirely on automation, I believe in building real connections, responding thoughtfully, and engaging in meaningful conversations. A well-timed, personalized message is far more impactful than a mass-produced email blast. Automation has its place but when it comes to business relationships, hiring, and executive search, I’ll always choose the human approach over an algorithm.

What are your thoughts? Do you prefer automation, or do you value a more personal touch?
